Better Late Than Never

The plan was to start this blog with the new year. We had come up with a name and created the site before realizing what we could write about... Combined with my inability to create a gmail account that had not already been taken (thanks mom and dad for naming me Matthew -- which ranked 3rd consistently for baby names from 1980-2000) the production of Addicted to Champagne had been delayed.

We realized we didn't have the time or the tools necessary to create popular news blogs such as http://www.talkingpointsmemo.com/ or http://www.huffingtonpost.com/ . We didn't have an interest in keeping up with gossip like http://gawker.com/ and http://www.perezhilton.com/ . And we couldn't cash in on the humor of http://failblog.org/ (one of my favorites) or http://icanhascheezburger.com/ (can't stand those stupid cats).

But there is something we CAN write about. Instead of sharing knowledge and direction with our readers (and by readers - at this point means 3 including both authors) ... we can do the opposite. I do not mean spreading lies but instead share experiences, questions, articles, etc... that will help me figure out what I want to do with my life -- at this point could be anything from attempting to live in the wilderness to working in New York City. I have just three semesters until the college life is over and I have to face the real world...

So where does champagne come in? I am not addicted to champagne. And I am certainly not poking fun at the seriousness of alcohol addiction. Technically, I have never had champagne... or any alcohol... but the point remains -- champagne has always been a symbol of success and happiness. New Years, weddings, and World Series Championships. So even though I have little idea of where to go or what to do I hope to be successful at whatever it is I decide upon.

Cheers.
